Our History
112 Years of quality service
Cooper and Berry was founded in 1906 when Maurice Cooper and Fred Berry joined forces as plumbers and iron mongers. Their original trade was as gas fitters, as gas lighting had become the “in thing”. At this time a plumber not only had to know his own trade but be a glazier and a heating engineer as well. Their partnership dissolved on 1913 but the business thrived with Maurice as chairman, his two sons and George Payne it became a family business. They played their part in the war effort as roofing lead and cast iron work was invaluable in the making of metal handles for tanks.
Simon Robinson & Tim Buckthorpe were made directors after working their way up from the trade counter and in 2018 took over the business when Chris decided it was time to retire.
